    The Vice-Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Professor Suleiman Bala Mohammed earlier today in his office received in audience Hon. Samaila Mohammed.
    Hon. Samaila Mohammed, an Adjunct Lecturer with the Faculty of Law, Nasarawa State University, Keffi, was a former Director, of Unijos Consultancy Services Limited, former Chairman of Jos-North, Plateau State, and a Former Member, representing Bassa-Jos North Federal Constituency in the National Assembly.
    Professor Suleiman and Hon. Samaila in the company of the Chairman of the NSUK Consult Board, Dr. Abdullahi Modibbo, had fruitful deliberations on ways of turning around the fortunes of NSUK Consult and tapping from his wealth of experience as a former Director of Unijos Consultancy Services Limited.

    Best Graduating Entrepreneurship Students Get Cash Startups

    The best-graduating students for the 2021 academic session of the Department of Entrepreneurship Studies have been rewarded with Capital cash start ups to enable them to start business skills they have learned during their course of study in the Department.
    Presenting the awards in his office to the students on Tuesday, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Suleiman Bala Mohammed commended the initiative of the Head of Department and encouraged her to do more as it will serve as a motivating factor to other students coming up to put in more hard work in both academics and skills acquisition.
    In her remarks, the Head of the Entrepreneurship Department, Dr. Mrs. Ruth Andah stated that the award was instituted as yearly event to encourage graduating students of the department who have excelled in their academic work, to put to practice what they have learned to become self-reliant and employers of labor. She used the opportunity to thank the Vice-Chancellor for redeeming an earlier pledge he made during the Departmental exhibition day that took place last month.
    Among the lucky winners is Odigbi Peace Makuochi who clinched the first prize worth 100,000 Naira, Usman Edache Philip who came in second position with 70,000 Naira, and Aremo Gloria the third place winner with 50,000 Naira while the best-graduating student from the part-time section went home with 20,000 Naira.
    Present at the occasion were the Director, of the Entrepreneurship Development Centre, Dr. Sam Baba Tende, and Dr. Vincent Paul and Mallam Abdullahi Adamu of the Department of Entrepreneurship Studies

    VC Receives Victorious NSUK Law Students, Pledges More Support

    The Vice-Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Professor Suleiman Bala Mohammed has pledged to support the winning duo of Faith Gimba (300 Level) and Mathew Jude Obinna (100 Level) to travel to the Maastricht University in the Netherlands to participate in the NCICC world competition in April 2023.
    The Vice-Chancellor made the pledge when he received the victorious law students in his office on Monday 20th February 2023.
    Professor Suleiman congratulated the students for making the University and Faculty of Law proud, noting that they have written their names in gold. He stated that the University will sponsor the two students and a staff member of the faculty for the annual edition coming up in April, he urged them to commence early preparations to enable them to emerge victorious on the world stage.
    The Vice-Chancellor also praised the efforts of Ms. Faith Gimba who is the current Vice-President of the Students Union Government for astutely combining students unionism and academics flawlessly.
    In his remarks, the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Professor J. O Adedoyin-Raji said the National Client Interviewing and Counselling Skills Competition NCICC is an annual competition organized by the Network of University Legal Aid Institution NULAI and is open to participation from law students representing various law clinics within Nigeria.
    Professor Raji further stated that this year’s edition with the topic “Environmental Law” was held both virtually and physically at Baze University, Abuja, and saw the NSUK-Law clinic beating the KSU-Law clinic and ECU Law clinic to clinch the first position, a feat that was achieved in 2019 by the duo of Paul Ebuka Nwaokolo and Gloria Arenson Ogbason.
    The NCICC competition aims to help students develop the invaluable skills of interviewing and counseling which will in turn ensure effective interaction with clients when they become actual lawyers.
    Highlights of the event were the presentation of certificates to Faith Gimba and Mathew Jude Obinna by the Vice-Chancellor and a compendium to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Law Clinic.
    Accompanying the students at the ceremony was Mr. Alex Epu, the coordinator of the Law Clinic, and Aliyu Husseini the team coach.

    VC Applauds Contribution of Professional Accreditation Bodies in Nigerian Universities

    The Vice-Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Professor Suleiman Bala Mohammed has applauded the various contributions made by professional bodies enhancing the quality of graduates in Nigerian Universities.
    The Vice-Chancellor made the call when he received a team of four professional accreditation bodies who paid him a courtesy visit at the senate chamber of the University on Monday 20th February 2023.
    Professor Suleiman said the contribution of these professional bodies has ensured that graduates from Nigerian Universities can stand at par with their counterparts from any part of the world and they have also added value to their respective professions.
    The Vice-Chancellor also charged Heads of Department scheduled for the exercise to give the delegation maximum support. He assured them that management will not relent on any observation or advice submitted at the end of the exercise.
    In their separate responses, the team leaders of the four professional bodies promised to be diligent in the execution of their duties.
    The four professional bodies are; the Council for Nigerian Mining and Geosciences, and the Town Planners Registration Council of Nigeria (TOPREC) others are, the Nigerian Institute of Animal Sciences and the Nigerian Institute of Science Laboratory Technologists (NISLT).
    The program had principal officers of the University with Deans and Heads of the respective Department in attendance.

    Mass Comm Department To Commence Campus Radio Broadcast

    The Department of Mass Communication Nasarawa State University, Keffi, is set to blaze the airwaves soon as it has acquired a Campus Radio Broadcast License from the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission, NBC.
    This was disclosed by the Vice-Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Professor Suleiman Bala Mohammed when he received the award letter in his office on Monday 20th February 2023.
    Professor Suleiman while congratulating the Department of Mass Communication on this feat which commenced in 2018 described the occasion as historic, noting that radio is a critical means for teaching and research with multifaceted functions.
    The Vice-Chancellor tasked the Head of the Department to ensure quality programming to make the station the best of its kind within Keffi and its environs stressing that the equipment needed to achieve the task should be forwarded to his office for consideration. He further tasked the Head of the Department to commence preparation for the acquisition of a Television License for the University.
    In his remark, the Head of the Department of Mass Communication, Professor Muhammad S. Rabiu thanked the University management under the leadership of Professor Suleiman Bala Mohammed for this gigantic endeavor, noting that the broadcast license will enable the station to transmit within the campus and other coverage areas.
    Professor Rabiu who said the radio station will be used in the training of Mass Communication students and also for distance learning expressed his determination to commence transmission as soon as all groundwork and logistics have been taken care of, stating that he has already forwarded a list of the required equipment needed to enable the station to start transmission for management consideration.
    The Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academics, Professor Haruna Kuje Ayuba, accompanied by the Information and Protocol Officer Mr. Abraham Habu Ekpo, and a senior lecturer in the Department of Mass Communication, Mallam Yakubu Mohammed Salisu were at the NBC headquarters on Friday 17th February 2023 to receive the award letter on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor.
    Present at the presentation ceremony were the Principal Officers of the University, the Dean of Students Affairs, Dr. Abdullahi S Modibbo, the Dean of, the Faculty of Social Science, Professor Theophilus Lagi, and some staff of the Department of Mass Communication.
