About Bursary

Brief Profile


The Bursary Department, which is the administrative arm of the University responsible for the custody of the University’s financial records and management of its resources was established right from the inception of the Institution 1st February, 2002. The Department was headed by Finance Officer (Alh. Ibrahim Dogara) who was later upgraded to the rank of acting Bursar in 2003.

In 2004 he left the Department and Abdullahi D. Zubairu was appointed as Coordinator of the Department from July, 2004 to March, 2005 with only 9 staff.

In 2005, 9 Staff were added to the existing Staff bringing the total to 18 staff in the Department under the leadership of a Principal Accountant (Mr. Stephen Y. Azizi).  In February 2007 he became the Bursar of the Institution and he served for two (2) tenures of five years each from 2007 to 2017.

By February, 2017 after the expiration of his tenure a new substantive Bursar was appointed (Mr. Michael S. Waki) who assumed duty on 1st March, 2017 to date.

The Department is currently made up of 39 Staff comprising 37 Senior Staff, 2 Junior Staff 3 of this total are supporting staff from the Registry Department.

The total number of Units in the Department have increased to 14. All the Units in Department have been grouped into 3 Divisions in additional to the office of the Bursar. The three (3) Divisions are:

  1. Finance & Treasury Service Division with 5 Units
  2. Operation and Investment Division with 4 Units. In additional also oversee the School of Postgraduate Studies, Faculties Accounts/ Directorates as well as Preliminary Studies.
  3. Main Accounts Division with 4 Units.

Head’s Desk


Sule John Shilo the current Head of Finance and Treasury Services Division/Payroll of Bursary Department was born on 14th August, 1975 and hails from Toto Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

He holds HND Accounting from the Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa, Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration, B.Sc (Honours) Degree in Accounting and M.Sc Accounting and Finance from Nasarawa State University, Keffi. He is currently a Ph.D student at Nasarawa State University, Keffi.

He worked with Toto Local Government Council as a Finance Officer from 1998- 2005. He joined the services of Nasarawa State University, Keffi in 2005 as Accountant II and rose to the rank of Deputy Bursar. He has headed the final Accounts and the cash office at different times, and currently heads of the Payroll and has served at various Committees in the University where he has garnered experience in budgeting, payroll, final accounts and financial management.

He is a Chartered Accountant and member of the prestigious Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria. He is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Treasury Management, Nigeria. He has attended both local and international conferences. He is happily married with children.

Brief Profile of the Division


The Finance and Treasury Services Division was established in 2017 to support effective financial management of the University funds through effective delivery of quality accounting, cash management and payment services. It coordinates five (5) Units.

The Division currently with a total number of nine (9) staff is currently headed by Mr. Sule John Shilo who took over the affairs of the division in 1st December, 2019 from Mrs. Veronica W. Adigizey, the pioneer head.

Head’s Desk


Tanko Ibrahim Danladi CNA, was born on 11th August, 1973 in Keffi town an indigene of Keffi Local Government in Nasarawa State Nigeria.

He attended SPS Primary School Keffi  from 1979 -1987, Federal Government Collage, Jos 1988- 1993; Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, 1994-1999; Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) and Masters (MBA) from 2004-2007 and Nigerian collage of Accountancy(ANAN) in 2011 .

He started work with Ministry of Works and Transport Sokoto State as Corp Member (NYSC) in Accounts Department in 2000. He joined the service of Nasarawa State University, Keffi as Accountant II in 2002 where he worked as the Head of Student Account Unit. Later he was promoted to the rank of Accountant I, 2005; Senior Accountant, 2008 as the Head of Cash Office.  In 2011 he was promoted to the rank of Principal Accountant and later moved to the Payroll office as the Head of Payroll Units. Then he was promoted to rank of Chief Accountant in 2014 and moved to Expenditure Control Office as the Head of Budget and Expenditure Control Unit.

In 2017 a division was established and he was moved to Head Operation and Investment Division where he was promoted to the rank of Deputy Bursar.

Brief Profile of the Division


The Operation and Investment Division of Bursary Department was established in 2017 by the current Bursar (Mr. M. S. Waki) when he saw the fast growing of the University in terms of the student’s population, staff increase, asset base and volume of activities.

The division is saddled with the responsibility of coordination the university Annual Budget preparation, Implementation of the entire Expenditure control policies, Certification of all payment vouchers to audit units, Processing requests for virements from department or units and Directorates, Management of Investment and Preparation / submission of performance reports to Finance General purposes Committee (F&GPC), University Governing Council and state Government.

The division is being headed by the Deputy Bursar (Alh Tanko Ibrahim Danladi) from the inception till date.

Head’s Desk


Banyigyi Nuhu Aforo is from Karu, Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State. He attended ECWA Transferred Primary School Karu from 1981 to 1986, Government College Keffi 1987 to 1992, School of Preliminary Studies (SPS) Keffi 1994, Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria where he graduated with B.Sc Accounting in the year 2000. He proceeded to Nigerian College of Accountancy Jos from 2000 to 2001 and also attended Nasarawa State University, Keffi and graduated with Masters in Business Administration (MBA) in 2010 and M.Sc Accounting and Finance in 2014.

He did his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) with office of the Accountant-General, Ministry of Finance Akure, Ondo State from 2001 to 2002. Worked with the Office of the Auditor-General, State Audit Headquarters, Lafia as Auditor I from 2003 to 2005.

He joined Nasarawa State University, Keffi in 2005 as Accountant I and was last promoted to the rank of Deputy Bursar on 1st October, 2017 and has headed the following Units: Purchasing and Accounts Payables from April, 2005 to 11th January, 2009; Payroll from 12th January, 2009 to 22nd June, 2011; Students Accounts from 23rd June, 2011 to 14th August, 2014; Cash Office from 15th August, 2014 to 31st July, 2017 and he is currently the Head of Main Accounts Division from 1st August, 2017 to date. He is married with children.

Main Account Division was created on 16th May, 2017 under the leadership of Mr. Michael S. Waki (Bursar) as a result of increase in the activities of the University in terms of students’ population, staff, asset base and the prevailing challenges. He opted for the creation of Division which is meant for the overall administration and coordination of work in the units to enhance efficient financial record keeping and timely production of reports for management decision.

The Payroll Unit was established in 2002 when the University took off. The Unit is responsible for the provision of accurate and timely personnel cost information as well as ensuring prompt payment of staff benefits in compliance with the University and other extant laws, rules and regulations.

The Unit is currently headed by a Chartered Accountant, Mr. Sule John Shilo who is preceded by Ali Zakari, late Yusuf M. Adeka, Banyigyi Nuhu Aforo, and Tanko I. Danladi respectively. He took over the affairs of the Unit on 15th August, 2014 with a total number of 3 staff but the currently has 2 staff.

Mission


To provide leadership and excellence in payroll services for Nasarawa State University by providing accurate and timely payroll information in compliance with the University and extant laws, rules and regulations.

Head’s Desk


Zubairu Edekudu Adamu, the current Budget Officer of Nasarawa State University, Keffi. He was born on 3rd November, 1976. He hails from Kokona Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

He holds First School Leaving Certificate from LEA Primary School, Kana (1984); Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE), Government Secondary School Uke (1990); Certificate Course in Co-operative Studies from Kaduna State Polytechnic, Zaria (1995); Diploma Certificate in Purchasing and Supply (1998) from Kaduna State Polytechnic Zaria; National Diploma in Business Administration (2005) from Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa; and Bachelor of Science, Business Administration (2010) from Nasarawa State University, Keffi; Masters in Business Administration (M.Sc), 2019. He is a certified National Accountant from Association of National Accountant of Nigeria (ANAN), 2014.

He joined the service of the Nasarawa State University, Keffi in 2002 as Stores Officer and rose to the position of Higher Stores Officer in 2004. He was posted to School of Preliminary Studies as a Finance Officer in 2007; head of advances Unit in 2010; head Students Account Unit, 2014; Accountant of School of Postgraduate Studies, 2017 when he was a Chief Stores Officer. He was later converted to Chief Accountant due to his hardworking and good performance during heading various Units and presently he is the Head of Budget Control Unit, 2020 to date. He has in various Committees’ both in the University and outside. He was elected as Treasurer of Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Universities, Keffi (SSANU) in 2005-2009; Trustee of the Union (SSANU) of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, 2009-2012; he was then elected as branch Chairman of the Union (SSANU) of Nasarawa State University, Keffi from 2013 to date.

He attended both local and international conference centered on educational management University Administration and Union relationship with management. Countries he visited: Saudi Arabia, Niger Republic and others. He is a fellow member of professional body with certified Institute of Management (FCIM), 2011. His hobbies include reading, travelling and playing volley ball. He is married with children.

This Unit was created to enhance proper budgeting control procedures of the University by ensuring timely and realistic recurrent and capital budget preparation. The Unit was established on 16th May, 2017 under the leadership of Mr. Michael S. Waki, the Bursar. The Unit is headed by ……

Head’s Desk


Mrs. Halima Ahmed Mohammed, holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration, 2014 and B.Sc Accounting, 2008 all from Nasarawa State University, Keffi. She is a member of the Association of National Accountants of Nigerian (ANAN).

She is from Nasarawa State and was born in Calabar on 5th January, 1974.

Presently Mrs. Mohammed is a Principal Accountant, having worked consistently and earned her promotion from 2010 when she started as Accountant II.

Mrs. Mohammed, H. A. is known for her zeal for learning on the job, diligence, ability to work under pressure and being a good team player. She is happily married with children.

Brief Profile of the Division


Expenditure Control Unit is headed by Mrs. Halima A. Mohammed and is responsible for payment vouchers preparation. The unit ensures that limits of authority of expenditures are adhered to through checking of vote limit for all expenditures.

To ensure that University resources are spent within authorized limits and based on sound financial management principles.

Mission


To provide effective checks for all financial transactions through vote process and preparation of payment vouchers.

Head’s Desk


Akwaden Stephen Thomas, the current Cash Officer of Nasarawa State University, Keffi was born on 21st December, 1981. He hails from Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area of Nasarawa State. He holds First School Leaving Certificate from R.C.M. Primary School Doma (1992), Senior School Certificate (SSC), Eggon Community Secondary School, Nasarawa Eggon (1998) and Bachelor of Science (B.sc Hons. 2nd Class Upper Division) Accounting from University of Jos, Jos (2004).

Akwaden S. Thomas worked as a Banker at the then Intercontinental Bank/Access Bank from 2007 to 2012. Responsibilities/Positions held include; Banking Operations as Paying/Receiving Teller, Funds Transfer Officer, Customers’ Service Officer among others. He later moved to the Inspection Group of the Bank where he served as an Inspector under the Branch Audit Department at the Head Office of the Bank in Lagos. He was later redeployed to the Internal Control and Compliance Department, FCT Region in the Branch Control team as a Branch Resident Controller. He joined the services of Nasarawa State University as a Senior Accountant in 2012.

He was head Final Accounts Unit of the Bursary till 2017 when he was moved to head the Cash Office till date. He was promoted to the rank of Principal Accountant and Chief Accountant in the years 2015 and 2018 respectively. Apart from serving as a member of the ICT committee of the University among others, he is currently a board member of the NSUK Microfinance Bank Ltd

Akwaden S. Thomas attended both local and international conferences bordering on Financial Reporting and Accounting Issues in both the public and private sectors of the economy including IFRS and IPSAS. Countries he visited include Ethiopia, Singapore and Malaysia. He is an Associate member of the famous Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and Institute of Chartered Economists of Nigeria (ICEN). His hobbies include reading, writing and playing football. He is married with Children.

Brief Profile of the Division


The Cash Office is the life-wire of the Department saddled with the responsibility of ensuring prompt receipts and payment of university’s funds and maintaining healthy banking relationships. The Unit has been in existence since the inception of the University with only 2 staff on ground. It is currently headed by Mr. Thomas S. Akwaden, an Associate member of the Institute of Chartered Accountant. The past heads of the Unit are Ali Zakari, Tanko I. Danladi, Sule John Shilo and Banyigyi Nuhu Aforo who handed over to the current head in June, 2017.

To be a trustworthy unit that facilitates accountable and transparent management of all receipts and payments of the University.

Mission


To provide excellent management of the University funds through prompt collections and disbursement of funds, adequate record keeping, custody of receipts, cheque books and other security documents as well as maintaining of bank relationship.

Head’s Desk


Aisha Suleiman was born on 24th January, 1985. She hails from Awe Local Government Area of Nasarawa State. She attended Government Secondary School Maina, Lafia, and then proceeded to University of Abuja where she obtained B.Sc Degree in Accounting in 2008. In 2012 she became a Member of Association of National Accountant of Nigeria (ANAN). In 2014 she attended Nasarawa State University where she obtained Masters in Public Sector Accounting (MIPSA). She has been with the University from May, 2011 to date. She is currently Principal Accountant and Head of the Students Account Unit of the Department.

Brief Profile of the Division


The Students Accounts Unit was created out of Cash Office in 2005, Murtala A. Kana is the pioneer head followed subsequently by Banyigyi Nuhu Aforo, Tanko I. Danladi, Zubairu E. Adamu and late Michael M, Attah. The Unit is saddled with responsibility of ensuring proper collection of Students fees, providing students income reports including outstanding students fees with only 2 staff. The unit is currently headed by Aisha Suleiman, a Certified National Accountant.

To be recognized as an automated leading unit for recognition, recording and maintenance of students income information.

Mission

Head’s Desk


Mr. Moses Felix Wahe hails from Wamba, Wamba Local Government Area of Nasarawa State. He attended R.M.C Primary School Wamba 1968-1975 (FSLC); Government Secondary School Katsina-Ala (1975-1975); Government Secondary School Miango, 1978-1980 (SSCE); College of Arts & Business Studies (CABS) Jos, 1981-1983 (Community Development Certificate); Kaduna State Polytechnic, 1988 -1989 (Stores Officer Certificate); Plateau State Polytechnic, 1995-1997 (Diploma in Accountancy and Auditing); and University of Abuja, 2000-2006 (B.Sc Business Administration and Management).

He worked as Stores Officer with Plateau State Polytechnic, Jos, 1985-1997; Senior Stores Officer, College of Arts and Social Sciences (CAST), Keffi in 1997-2002. He joined Nasarawa State University, Keffi in 2003 as Principal Stores Officer and promoted to the rank of Assistant Chief Stores Officer in 2005 – 2008 and presently a Chief Stores Officer and head of Computer Services Unit in the Bursary Department. He is married with children.

Brief Profile of the Division


The Computer Services Unit is the nerve centre of Bursary Departments’ management Information System. It was created in 2017 with the sole aim of maintaining a sustainable Information and Technology base Information System that will enhance time reporting by the Department. The Unit has only one (1) staff, Mr. Moses Felix Wahe, the pioneer head.

To be the nerve centre of bursary department’s management information system.

Mission


To maintain a sustainable computerized information base that enhances reporting in the department by maintaining the server of the integrated computerized system.

Head’s Desk


Mrs. Comfort Ladi Jatau was born on 25th July, 1967 and she is from Nasarawa State. She attended Girls High School Gindiri, Plateau, 1986; National Diploma, Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa, 2001; Higher National Diploma in Business Administration, 2005; Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration and Masters in Business Administration all from Nasarawa State University, Keffi. She is Member of Association of National Accountancy of Nigerian (ANAN) in 2007.

She joined the service of Nasarawa State University, Keffi as Senior Accountant in July 1, 2010 and rose to the rank of Chief Accountant in October 1, 2016 and presently, she is the Finance Officer of Faculties/Directorates Accounts. She is married with children.

Mr. Abdullahi Yusuf was born on 12th October, 1977 in Shika-Zaria. He hails from Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State. He holds National Diploma in Business Administration from Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa, 2008; B.Sc Degree in Business Administration, Nasarawa State University, Keffi 2012 and Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting from Nigerian College of Accountancy, Jos, 2016.

He joined the services of Nasarawa State University, Keffi on 2nd December, 2002 as Assistant Stores Officer and rose to the rank of Senior Accountant in 2017 due to his hardworking.

Presently, he is the head of Stores, Purchasing and supply Unit. He is married with children.

Brief Profile of the Division


The Stores, Purchasing and Supply Unit was initially known as Stores Unit and later became Stores, Purchasing and Supply Unit in 2017 due to reorganization effort in the Department. Mr. Yusuf Abdullahi, a certified National Accountant is the current head of the Unit which has only 2 staff. Mrs. Veronica W. Adigizey and Moses Felix Wahe as its past heads.

The Unit is solidly responsible for purchases of Stores items of the University and proper accounting of the Stores receipts and issues.

Vision


To be the most successful service unit that supports the University in the management and custodian of all purchases and stores items.

Mission


To ensure purchases of quality items and proper stores accounting through adequate documentation of receipts and issues, regular physical stock taking and review to determine stock disposition and maintenance of stores ledger.

Head’s Desk


Banyigyi Nuhu Aforo is from Karu, Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State. He attended ECWA Transferred Primary School Karu from 1981 to 1986, Government College Keffi 1987 to 1992, School of Preliminary Studies (SPS) Keffi 1994, Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria where he graduated with B.Sc Accounting in the year 2000. He proceeded to Nigerian College of Accountancy Jos from 2000 to 2001 and also attended Nasarawa State University, Keffi and graduated with Masters in Business Administration (MBA) in 2010 and M.Sc Accounting and Finance in 2014.

He did his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) with office of the Accountant-General, Ministry of Finance Akure, Ondo State from 2001 to 2002. Worked with the Office of the Auditor-General, State Audit Headquarters, Lafia as Auditor I from 2003 to 2005.

He joined Nasarawa State University, Keffi in 2005 as Accountant I and was last promoted to the rank of Deputy Bursar on 1st October, 2017 and has headed the following Units: Purchasing and Accounts Payables from April, 2005 to 11th January, 2009; Payroll from 12th January, 2009 to 22nd June, 2011; Students Accounts from 23rd June, 2011 to 14th August, 2014; Cash Office from 15th August, 2014 to 31st July, 2017 and he is currently coordinating the activities of the Unit. He is married with children.

Brief Profile of the Division


Reconciliation Unit was created under the leadership of Mr. Michael S. Waki (Bursar) on 16th May, 2017 as a result of increase in the activities of the University in terms of students’ population, staff, asset base and the prevailing challenges. He opted for the creation of this unit which is responsible for the preparation of monthly reports and bank reconciliation statements for all University accounts to safeguard University funds. This Unit was first headed by Halima Ahmed Mohammed from 16th May, 2017 to January, 2020, John Alem Noma took over from January, 2020 till his demised on 26th January, 2020. Presently the Unit is been coordinated by the head of the Division.

To be a dependable source of reliability for the University cash position.

Mission


To safeguard the funds of University through timely reconsideration of all University bank accounts.

Head’s Desk


Murtala Abubakar Kana was born on 20th August, 1977 and a native of Afo from Kokona Local Government Area of Nasarawa State. He attended SPS Staff School, Keffi from1984-1989 (FSLC); Federal Government College, Jos, 1991-1996 (SSCE); University of Jos, 1999-2002 (B.Sc Degree in Accounting) and Nigerian College of Accountancy, Jos, 2003-2004 (ANAN).

He did his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Ganjuwa Local Government Council of Bauchi State, 2004. He joined the services of Nasarawa State University, Keffi in 2005 as an Accountant II; he was promoted to the rank of Accountant I in 2009; Principal Accountant, 2014 and Chief Accountant from 2017 to date. He is the head of Final Account Unit.

He attended courses, workshops and seminars in different areas: Clinical tax workshop on Nigerian tax incentives, tax assessment and tax clearance strategy by chartered institute of taxation of Nigeria, 1st – 4th February, 2010; research process and methodological approaches for postgraduates and academic researchers by governmental and financial accounting research centre, 20th October, 2011; budgeting as a tool for effective control and planning by Deipatris Consulting, 15th March, 2013; accountant in training scheme, information and communication technology by Nigerian College of Accountancy, Jos, 6th -8th August, 2014.

Final Account Unit was created under the leadership of Mr. Stephen Y. Azizi (Head of Bursary Department) as a result of reorganization of Bursary Department in April, 2005, the Unit is meant to accurately report the financial position of the University through presentation of monthly, quarterly and annual report.

The Unit has been headed by the following officers: Sule John Shilo from April, 2005 to 11th January, 2009; Wilson A. Daniel from 12th January, 2009 to May, 2012; Thomas S. Akwaden from 1st May, 2012 to 31st July, 2017 and Murtala A. Kana from 1st August, 2017 to date

To be a transparent Unit for presentation of true and fair view of University.

Mission


To accurately report the financial position of the University by providing monthly, quarterly and annual report and ensure auditing.

Head’s Desk


Mr. Azizi, Stephen Yakubu is a well trained Professional Chartered Accountant of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN). He wrote and passed the professional examinations of the Institute at the age of Twenty-seven (27). Presently, he is a Fellow of the Institute. He holds a Bachelor of Science (Accounting) with Second Class Honours (Upper Division) from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria, where he graduated in June, 1982.

He was born in 1960 in Barkin Abdullahi (B.A.D), Lafia Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

The distinguished and intelligent Stephen has vast experience in both public and private sectors organization’ service delivery. These organizations include; Price Waterhouse (Chartered Accountants) an internationally recognized Chartered Accounting Firm, where he received his Professional training, United Nations Development Programme and Nasarawa State University, Keffi where he was Bursar for ten (10) years (2007 to 2017). He has returned to the Bursary Department of the University after one year sabbatical leave with Federal University, Lafia and now is a Chief Accountant.

In recognition of his enormous contributions to Nasarawa State University and the Nation, Mr. Azizi had received a number of Awards. Notably among them is the International Gold Award by National Chronicle Magazine for his Transparency and Accountability Achievements.

Mr. Azizi, Stephen Yakubu has attended many Workshops and Conferences, including an International Workshop on Emerging Markets, Nairobi, Kenya by Kaduna Business School in Collaboration with NEPPAD Kenya, July, 2007.

The Chartered Accountant, is known for his commitment to excellent service and exemplary performance; ability to work without supervision and under pressure; professional discipline and integrity; aptitude for on the job training of subordinates and good communication skills.

Mr. Azizi is a devote Christian and happily married with four children

Assets and Insurance Unit was created to enhance proper accounting and financial reporting for the acquisition and disposition of the University Property, Plant, and Equipment under the leadership of Mr. Michael S. Waki (Bursar) on 16th May, 2017 as a result of increase in the activities of the University in terms of students’ population, staff, asset base and the prevailing challenges which is meant to secure and safeguard University Assets.

Vision


To be a most efficient Unit for proper accounting and physical control.

Mission


To provide proper accounting and financial reporting for the acquisition and disposition of the University property, plant and equipment through effective maintenance of the PPE register as well as their adequate monitoring and physical control.

Head’s Desk


Mrs. Ruth Danjuma Aba hails from Nasarawa Local Government Council of Nasarawa State and was born on 16th November, 1968. She holds National Diploma, 2000; Higher National Diploma, 2004 all from Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa; ANAN, Nigeria College of Accountancy, Jos, 2011.  She is currently Principal Accountant and head of Account Payable Unit. She is married with children.

Brief Profile of the Division


Account Payable Unit was created to enhance accounting and recording of capital and special payments through processing and raising of payment vouchers, raising job/local payment orders, preparation and payment of utility bills and maintenance of creditors ledgers. The unit is head by Mrs. Ruth D. Abah, a Principal Accountant.

To be a unit for reporting timely and accurately position of liabilities of the University.

Mission


To provide adequate position of liabilities through proper recording of supplies and payments.

Head’s Desk


Veronica Wamu Adigizey hails from Wamba, Wamba Local Government Area of Nasarawa State. She attended Government Teacher’s College (TCII) Wamba 1998; West African Examination Council (WAEC) 1990; Diploma in Accounting University of Jos, 1994; B. Sc Business Management, University of Jos, 2004; ANAN, Nigerian College of Accountancy, Jos, 2008; Postgraduate Diploma in Business Management, 2008 and Masters Business Administration, 2014 all from Nasarawa State University, Keffi.

She worked with the Plateau State Polytechnic in the Stores, 1989-1993; Head of Cash Office 1993-1996 and Payroll from 1996-1997.

Following the creation of Nasarawa State out of Plateau State, she was deployed to College of Arts Science & Technology, Keffi in November, 1997 and she was the head of Payroll 1997-2002.

She joined the service of Nasarawa State University, Keffi in 2002 and has headed the following Units:

Head of Payroll, 2002-2005; Head of Stores, 2005-2009; Head of Purchasing & Accounts Payable, 2009-2014; Head of Loans & Advances 2014-2015, Head of SPGS Accounts 2015-2017; Head of Finance & Treasury Services Division, 2017-2019. She is currently the Deputy Bursar Heading SPGS Accounts Office from January, 2020 to date. She is married with children.

To be a leading automated SPGS for recognition, recording and maintenance of students income information.

Mission


To enhance proper revenue accounting by monitoring and ensuring prompt collection of fees, providing fee collection reports and maintenance of School of Postgraduate Studies students ledger.

Head’s Desk


Mr. Dalhatu, Ma’aji Muhammed is a Fellow of Association of National Accountant of Nigeria (ANAN), Institute of Corporate Administration, Certified Institute of Public Administrators and a holder of Masters in Public Sector Accounting (MIPSA) and Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting and Finance all from Nasarawa State University, Keffi. He holds Higher National Diploma from Kano State Polytechnic.

Mr. Dalhatu m. M. was born in Lafia, Nasarawa State on 21st January, 1968.

Presently, he is a Chief Accountant. He joined the services of the University as Principal Accountant in 2015. Mr. Dalhatu worked with the Ministry of Finance, Nasarawa State from 1991-2014.

He is happily married with children.

This Unit was created as a result of reorganization of Bursary Department on 16th May, 2017 to enhance accounting for investible funds from self-funding units of the University

To provide a comprehensive list of all University Investments, their values and monitor returns from the investment.

Head’s Desk


Phoebe Joshua, the current Head of Unit Loans and Advances, Bursary Department of Nasarawa State University, Keffi was born on 21st January, 1978. She hails from Panda, Karu Local Government of Nasarawa State. She holds her First School Leaving Certificate from Central Pilot Primary School (FSLC) Gitata (1989, Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE), National Diploma in Business Studies, Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa (2007), Higher National Diploma in Business Administration and Management (BAM), Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa (2010); Nigerian College of Accountancy, Jos (2014); she was inducted into the membership of Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) in 2015.

Phoebe Joshua joined the services of Nasarawa State University, Keffi in 2005 as Clerical Officer (Accounts) with Bursary Department from 2005 to 2007; she was promoted as a Senior Clerical Officer (Accounts) and served in that capacity from 2008 -2010. Assistant Chief Clerical Officer (Accounts) from 2011-2013; Chief Clerical Officer (Accounts) from 2014-2015. Then she was upgraded to the rank of Accountant I with effect from 2015 – 2017. Presently a Senior Accountant from 2018 to date.

Phoebe Joshua attended various local conferences/workshops within Nigeria including the yearly mandatory Continuing Professional Development (MCPD) Programme and Annual Conferences of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) which she is a member. Her hobbies includes, reading, playing javelin. She is happily married with children.

Brief Profile of the Division


Loans and Advances Unit was created as a result of reorganization of Bursary Department in April, 2005 under the leadership of Mr. Stephen Y. Azizi (Head of Bursary Department) to enhance provision of adequate position of loans and advances through proper recording and retirement.

The Unit has been headed by the following Officers at various period of time: Aishatu Mohammed Keffi, Isa Tukur Keffi, Zubairu E. Adamu, Veronica W. Adigizey, Dalhatu M. Muh’d Yusuf Abdullahi and Phoebe Joshua with effect from January, 2020 to date.

To provide adequate position of loans and advances through proper recording and retirement.
