The Bursary Department, which is the administrative arm of the University responsible for the custody of the University’s financial records and management of its resources was established right from the inception of the Institution 1st February, 2002. The Department was headed by Finance Officer (Alh. Ibrahim Dogara) who was later upgraded to the rank of acting Bursar in 2003.
In 2004 he left the Department and Abdullahi D. Zubairu was appointed as Coordinator of the Department from July, 2004 to March, 2005 with only 9 staff.
In 2005, 9 Staff were added to the existing Staff bringing the total to 18 staff in the Department under the leadership of a Principal Accountant (Mr. Stephen Y. Azizi). In February 2007 he became the Bursar of the Institution and he served for two (2) tenures of five years each from 2007 to 2017.
By February, 2017 after the expiration of his tenure a new substantive Bursar was appointed (Mr. Michael S. Waki) who assumed duty on 1st March, 2017 to date.
The Department is currently made up of 39 Staff comprising 37 Senior Staff, 2 Junior Staff 3 of this total are supporting staff from the Registry Department.
The total number of Units in the Department have increased to 14. All the Units in Department have been grouped into 3 Divisions in additional to the office of the Bursar. The three (3) Divisions are:
- Finance & Treasury Service Division with 5 Units
- Operation and Investment Division with 4 Units. In additional also oversee the School of Postgraduate Studies, Faculties Accounts/ Directorates as well as Preliminary Studies.
- Main Accounts Division with 4 Units.
