In a bold move to ensure that Nasarawa State University, Keffi, gets improved funding, the Vice-Chancellor Professor Saadatu Hassan Liman, Fellow; UNESCO, ACLS, FIIFP on Tuesday 14th January 2025, interfaced with critical University stakeholders to find proactive ways of increased funding for the University to accommodate new programs that the University is planning to float after the approval obtained from the NUC and to enable the University compete favourably with its peers and surpass its current favourable standings.
To this end the Vice-Chancellor and her management team met with the Speaker of Nasarawa State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Danladi Jatau and the leadership of the House Committee on Education, Science and Technology, they assured the Vice-Chancellor and her management that legislative action will be taken to correct the anomaly in the funding of the University and ensure that more funds are allocated to the University.
In a related development, the Vice-Chancellor and her team were at the palace of the Emir of Lafia and Chairman Nasarawa State Council of Chiefs, His Royal Highness Justice Muhammad Sidi Bage 1 Rtd where she solicited for the support of the royal father towards galvanizing support for the University, in his response Justice Sidi Bage I stated that he is very proud of the University and achievements of the Institution since it’s inception, he further assured the Vice-Chancellor of his unalloyed support by reaching out to the Government and like minded people to support the increased funding of the University.
Similarly, the Vice-Chancellor also met with the Chairmen of the 13 Local Government Areas of Nasarawa State under the aegis of ALGON. Speaking on behalf of the other members of the association, Nasarawa State Chairman of ALGON and Chairman of Akwanga Local Government Area, Honourable Isah Safiyanu Andaha while praising the Saadatu Hassan Liman led management for repositioning the University and placing the University at a competitive state, he promised to rally support from all ALGON members to see that the Local Governments in Nasarawa State play a pivotal role in the development of the University.
