










The Vice-Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), Professor Saadatu Hassan Liman, Fellow; UNESCO, ACLS, FIIFP, has applauded the European Union and the Polish Embassy for their significant contributions to the University’s growing international partnerships.
The Vice-Chancellor gave the commendation on Thursday, May 15, 2025, during a special lecture held in honor of the induction of the pioneer students of the Brunon Holyst Institute of European Studies.
The event, hosted at the SB Mohammed Auditorium of the School of Postgraduate Studies, featured lectures from the Head of Delegation of the European Union to Nigeria and West Africa, His Excellency Gautier Mignot, and the Polish Ambassador to Nigeria, His Excellency Michal Cygan.
Describing the induction as a historic milestone, the Vice-Chancellor remarked, “The establishment of the Brunon Holyst Institute of European Studies is a significant chapter in the University’s history. It reaffirms our dedication to fostering a deeper understanding of European governance, culture, economics, and the mutual challenges connecting Europe and Africa.”
She added that the Institute is poised to become a regional hub of knowledge, committed to research, dialogue, and academic exchange between both continents.
“Our collaboration with the European Union and its member states, especially Poland and the Netherlands, has become a pillar of our internationalization strategy, offering immense opportunities for academic growth, capacity building, and cross-cultural understanding,” she said.
Professor Sa’adatu emphasized that through the Institute, NSUK aspires to build a robust bridge between Europe and West Africa, allowing students to engage critically with European affairs and contribute to global solutions.
“As we induct the first cohort of students, I am filled with optimism. This marks the dawn of a new era not just for NSUK but also for EU-Nigeria relations,” she concluded.
Delivering his lecture titled “The European Union: A Reliable Partner for Nigeria and the World”, Ambassador Gautier Mignot highlighted the values that underpin the EU human rights, democratic governance, and citizen welfare and underscored the Union’s commitment to sustainable development.
Ambassador Michal Cygan, in his lecture titled “Benefits of Regional Integration: The Example of Poland”, reaffirmed Poland’s commitment to supporting NSUK’s European initiatives and pledged continuous collaboration.
In his goodwill message, the Emir of Keffi and Chancellor of the University, HRH Alhaji Dr. Shehu Chindo Yamusa III, CON, lauded the vision behind the Institute and encouraged students to maximize their education for global impact.
The event culminated in the induction of the pioneer students of the Institute, the presentation of university souvenirs to the visiting diplomats, and the commissioning of a newly installed electronic partners board at the University Ceremonial Roundabout.
