The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) Nasarawa State Chapter has urged Union leaders to project a positive image of their organizations.
Comrade Mohammed Na’ibi, State Secretary of NLC, made this statement at the Third Quadrennial Congress of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Branch.
The event, held at the 1,000-seater auditorium of the University in Keffi, on Wednesday 12th March 2025 was attended by the representatives of Union leaders from other territiary institutions.
Speaking during the event, Comrade Mohammed Na’ibi, said union activities are aimed to promote purposeful leadership, welfare, and a positive image of the organization, and commended SSANU’s dedication to Union activities and encouraged them to sustain their efforts.
According to Comrade Na’ibi “the SSANU NSUK Branch, based on the records available are very committed members, I must commend their leadership for coordinating the affairs of the Union in good direction”.
In their earlier remarks, the Vice-Chancellor Professor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, who was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, Professor Theophilus Daniel Lagi, and the Bursar, Mallam Murtala Abubakar Kana, all assured the Union that the management is working towards enhancing the welfare of both academic and non-academic staff.
In their separate goodwill messages, the Chairman of ASUU NSUK Chapter, Prof. Samuel Alu, Comrade Abdullahi Omale Ari, Chairman of the National Association of Academic Technologists, NAAT NSUK Branch, and the Chairman of NASU NSUK Chapter Comrade Danjuma Mohammed Namalama all appreciated the State government’s salary increments but noted that more needs to be done.
During the congress, members unanimously re-elected the current executives, led by Comrade Simon Yakubu as Chairman of SSANU NSUK Chapter.
The National Vice President, North Central, Comrade Abubakar Aliyu, while inaugurating the officials, charged the new executives to sustain their hard work and prioritize members’ welfare.
Responding on behalf of the newly inaugurated members, Comrade Simon Yakubu, Chairman of SSANU NSUK Chapter, thanked members for their support and solicited continued backing for the next four years.
