Professor Uche Uwaleke, Nigeria’s first Professor of Capital Market Studies and a distinguished scholar at Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), is set to receive a prestigious Honorary Award at the inaugural Nairametrics Capital Market Choice Awards. The event will take place on Friday 23rd May, 2025, at The Banquet Hall, Civic Centre, Lagos.
Organized by Nairametrics Financial Advocates Limited, the awards aim to recognize individuals and institutions that have significantly contributed to Nigeria’s capital market development. Prof. Uwaleke is being honored for his pioneering role in bridging the gap between academia and practice, and for his impactful work in investor education, policy development, and regulatory reforms.
A trailblazer in Capital Market Studies, Prof. Uwaleke is the founding Director of the Institute of Capital Market Studies at NSUK and the first Head of the Department of Securities and Investment Management. He also serves as the pioneer President of the Capital Market Academics of Nigeria.
His impressive career includes roles as Special Adviser to the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Capital Market, consultant to the House Committee on Capital Market, former Chief Economist at the SEC, and Chair of the SEC Committee of Experts on Capital Market Studies in Nigerian Universities.
Prof. Uwaleke will not only receive the honorary award but will also serve as a Special Guest and present select awards during the evening. His presence is anticipated to be one of the event’s key highlights.
He is also the author of 10Ps of the Nigerian Capital Market and the first book on the Nigerian Non-Interest Capital Market and served as lead consultant for the National Debt Management Framework (2023–2027).
