The founder of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, and 1st Civilian Governor of Nasarawa State, His Excellency Distinguished Senator Abdullahi Adamu has charged the pioneering students of the College of Medical and Health Sciences to be of good character as that is what will determine their certification at the end of their program in the University.
The elder statesman gave the charge during the inauguration and matriculation ceremony of the pioneer set of students to be admitted into the two programs of the newly established College of Medical and Health Sciences on Wednesday 6th December 2023 at the Assembly Hall of the University.
 
Senator Abdullahi Adamu noted that certificates are given to students who have been found worthy both in character and learning at the end of their studentship. He stressed that any of the matriculated students who fall short of the mentioned requirements will not get a degree, he, therefore urged the students to stand for what brought them to the University and be good ambassadors of their families and the University.
Speaking further, Senator Adamu expressed his sense of fulfilment and accomplishment with the way the university he established over 20 years ago has grown in leaps and bounds to become one of the best state Universities in Nigeria.
In his remark, the special guest of honour at the event and Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, His Excellency, Dr. Emmanuel Agbadu Akabe congratulated the newly matriculated students and advised them to focus on their studies, noting that as medical sciences students, they require complete focus on their studies if they want to be successful and contribute their quota to national development.
 
Dr. Akabe used the opportunity to commend the founder of the University for his vision and foresight in establishing the University and also the Vice-Chancellor and his management team for establishing the two new programs. He further pledged the support of the state government in providing qualified manpower to adequately equip the students to be able to stand out in the world of sciences.
Earlier in his welcome remark, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Suleiman Bala Mohammed congratulated the students and admonished them against unethical and deviant behaviours as the The university will not hesitate to apply sanctions on erring students who go against the established laws governing the activities of the students in the University.
 
The highlights of the event were the inauguration of the Medical and Health Sciences students by the founder of the University, Distinguished Senator Abdullahi Adamu, and an Inauguration lecture delivered by the Chief Medical Director of the Federal Medical Centre Dr. Yahaya Baba Adamu with the topic “Navigating The Digital Frontier: Transferring Healthcare Through Innovative Approach” and the administration of the matriculation oath by the Registrar of the University Mallam Bala Isyaka Ahmed II.
The breakdown of 153 matriculated students indicates that Community Health Science has 105 students and Health Information Management has 48 students.
