In her effort to celebrate and further cement the warm and beneficial relationship that has been in existence between the Nasarawa State University, Keffi, and the Embassy of Poland, the management of the University on Friday, 12th July 2024 organised a Farewell Dinner in honour of the outgoing Poland Ambassador to Nigeria, Her Excellency, Ambassador Joanna Tarnawaska.
Speaking at the event which took place at the old Senate Chamber of the University, the Vice-Chancellor Professor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman applauded the efforts of the Poland Ambassador for nurturing the enhancing the relationship between NSUK and Polish institutions which has resulted in the creation of Academic and job opportunities for both staff and students of the University. The Vice-Chancellor appealed for the sustainance of the relationship which she noted is advantageous to the University.
In her remark, the outgoing Ambassador of Poland to Nigeria, Her Excellency Joanna Tarnawska while recalling her stay in Nigeria since assuming duty described Nigerians as very hospitable and resilient. She further stated that Nasarawa State and Keffi in particular have been home to her. She thanked the past and present Vice-Chancellors for their efforts in institutionalising academic excellence in Nigeria.
She also appreciated the Pro Chancellor of the University and Emir of Keffi Alh. Dr. Shehu Chindo Yamusa III and former the former Nigerian Ambassador to Poland His Excellency Samuel Jimba for making her stay in Nigeria very memorable.
Delivering his vote of thanks, the Director of Linkages and International Cooperation, who also has been very central to the Polish-NSUK relationship, Dr. K’tso Nghargbu thanked the Poland Ambassador to Nigeria for the opportunities granted to students of the University to study in Polish Universities and also for the Erasmus+ program which entitiles students of the University to visit Poland to study on an all expense trip for one semester.
The Highlight of the event was the presentation of traditional Nigerian wears and jewellery to the outgoing Ambassador by the Vice-Chancellor, who was supported the Abaga of Toni, HRM, Lawrence Sylvester Ayih II, and former Nigerian Ambassador to Poland His Excellency Samuel Jimba and Principal Officers of the University.
