Dr. UMBUGADU Allu Augustine is a dedicated academic with over 15 years of experience in higher education and research in the field of geology and mining. He currently being assess as a Reader and serves as a Senior Lecturer at the Geology & Mining Department of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, where he has made significant contributions to the field of Engineering Geology and Environmental studies.
Dr. Umbugadu earned his Ph.D. in Engineering Geology from the University of Nigeria in 2020, following a Master’s degree in Hydrogeology & Engineering Geology from the University of Jos in 2013. His educational journey began with a Bachelor’s degree in Geology and Mining, also from the University of Jos, in 2004.
In his academic career, Dr. Umbugadu has successfully supervised numerous postgraduate students, guiding them in research that addresses critical environmental issues. His teaching portfolio includes courses such as Engineering Geology, Environmental Geology, Mining Geology, and Hydrogeology, reflecting his expertise and passion for educating the next generation of geoscientists.
Dr. Umbugadu is an active member of several professional bodies, including the Nigerian Association of Environment and Engineering Geology, Nigerian Mining and Geosciences Society and the Council of Nigerian Mining, Engineers & Geoscientists. His research work is widely published in peer-reviewed journals, focusing on groundwater contamination, geotechnical investigations, and the environmental impacts of mining activities.
As Ag. Director of GST, he also engages in community service, oversee the scheduling and administration of general studies courses across various Departments. Monitor and evaluate the quality of instruction and student performance in general studies courses. Implement feedback mechanisms for continuous improvement of course content and teaching methods amongst so many others.
