






The Faculty of Education, Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), on Wednesday, 28th May 2025, organized an orientation program titled: “Curbing Social Media Vices on Campus: The Collective Responsibility of Staff and Students,” for newly admitted undergraduate students of the 2024/2025 academic session. The event was held at the Faculty of Education Lecture Theatre 1.
In her remarks, the Vice-Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Professor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman (Fellow: UNESCO, ACLS, FIIFP), who was ably represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Professor Theophilus Daniel Lagi, congratulated the newly admitted students and wished them a successful academic journey. He described the university management as a supportive and student-friendly administration committed to mentoring students and guiding their conduct.
Professor Lagi emphasized the importance of adhering to the university’s rules and regulations, which are designed to uphold academic integrity and moral conduct. He encouraged the students to be good ambassadors of the institution and warned against engaging in social vices such as cultism, indecent dressing, drug abuse, and other forms of misconduct.
In his address, the Dean of the Faculty, Professor Usman S. Gbari, expressed appreciation to the Vice-Chancellor, heads of departments, directors, faculty lecturers, and facilitators for their presence at the event. He reaffirmed the university’s commitment to providing a safe, morally upright, and supportive learning environment.
He urged both staff and students to actively reject harmful behaviors such as cultism, drug abuse, sexual harassment, and other unethical practices, noting that such behaviors are detrimental to education and student well-being. He called for collective responsibility in promoting positive values and becoming ambassadors of change on campus.
The Student Faculty President, Comrade Musa Jamilu, in his goodwill message, described the faculty as a dedicated academic community that values educational innovation and collaboration. He encouraged his fellow students to remain focused on their academic pursuits and to build valuable and empowering relationships that will support them in achieving their long-term goals.
The orientation ceremony had nine proficient and grounded facilitators (resource persons) who presented relevant topics that will help the students live in accordance with the vision and mission of the university.
The event was attended by principal officers, faculty heads of departments, directors, faculty lecturers, and students.
