









The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) plans to honor Professor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, Vice-Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), with an honorary fellowship during its Annual General Meeting in May 2025. This recognition reflects Professor Liman’s unwavering support for NIPR and her involvement in establishing the proposed University of Public Relations and Leadership (UPRL) in Gudi, Nasarawa State.
The President of NIPR, Dr. Ike Neliaku, made the announcement on April 25, 2025, during a visit to NSUK, where he led the project implementation committee for UPRL.
He stated that the fellowship would be awarded at NIPR’s week and Annual General Meeting scheduled for 22nd May 2025, in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
The NIPR delegation’s visit to NSUK aimed at seeking mentorship from the university in the establishment of UPRL, which is set to be the first institution of its kind globally, scheduled to commence operations in November 2026.
Dr. Neliaku emphasized NSUK’s rising profile among Nigerian Universities and its geographical proximity to UPRL as significant factors in selecting NSUK as a mentor institution.
In her response, Professor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, represented by Professor Abdullahi Sallau Modibbo, expressed gratitude for the recognition from NIPR. He highlighted NSUK’s commitment to providing value-driven education and effective leadership while respecting diversity across ethnic, cultural, and religious lines.
In discussing NSUK’s successful strategies, Professor Modibbo outlined the university’s focus on partnerships with reputable government and corporate organizations for collaborative research and development.
He underscored NSUK’s dedication to enhancing academic and professional standards through affiliations with various educational institutions.
The working visit included discussions on collaboration strategies, staffing, human resources, and research exchanges. The NIPR delegation toured NSUK’s facilities, gaining insights into the University’s resources and capabilities for providing mentorship to UPRL.
The conferral of the honorary fellowship on Professor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman marks a significant milestone for both NIPR and NSUK, highlighting the importance of collaboration in higher education and the establishment of innovative institutions.
