The Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions better known as NASU, NSUK Branch under the leadership of its Chairman Comrade Dr. Danjuma Mohammed Namalama has recognised the 5th substantive Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman FELLOW; UNESCO, ACLS, FIIFP, for her exemplary leadership, dedication, and unwavering commitment to excellence, innovation, and the development of the University.

The Award which was presented to the Vice-Chancellor at the Union’s Maiden End-of-Year Dinner/ Award Night took place recently at the Assembly Hall of the University.
In her acceptance speech, Professor Sa’adatu thanked NASU for finding her worthy of the award, she stated that she accepted the award because she does not segregate among the industrial unions of campus since all of them are partners in progress in moving the University forward. She noted that since her assumption to office Eight Months ago she has recorded remarkable successes which she attributed to the massive support she has been recieving from her Principal Officers and also from the Unions on Campus, noting that with such support the sky will be the limit for the University.

The Vice-Chancellor explained that since her assumption to office she has made concerted efforts to pay off backlog of arrears that have accrued and will continue to pay them until all arrears are completly liquidated. She used the opportunity to admonish staff of the University against indulging in unethical behaviours which have the tendency of tarnishing the image and intergrity of the University.

In his speech, Chairman of NASU NSUK Branch Comrade Dr. Danjuma Mohammed Namalama stated that the End-of-Year Dinner and Award Night was not just a celebration of another successful year but to also honour those who have made significant contributions to the growth of the Union and the University. He added that it was a moment of reflection, recognition, and renewal of the shared commitment to the values that drive the Union and the University.

Comrade Namalama while appreciating his heartfelt gratitude to the leadership of the Union’s at State and National levels for their continued support guidance and encouragement. He also paid tributes to the pioneer leaders of the Union whose vision and sacrifices laid the foundation for the successes the Union is enjoying today.

The event featured a goodwill remark by the Second Chairman of NASU NSUK Branch and Deputy National President of the University Trade Group Congress UTGC Comrade Suleiman Abdullahi Buhari.
Highlight of the event were the presentation of Awards to Principal Officers of the University, and also to Engr. Nuraini Abdullahi Adamu the Dujiman Keffi, Salisu Muhammad Rabiu, and the International football sensation Sanusi Ibrahim (S14) who were recognised for their invaluable support towards the construction of the NASU Secretariat in NSUK.

Post-Humous awards were given to the Pioneer Chairman of NASU Late Comrade Haruna Envuladu, the award was recieved by his Son Wana D. Wana and Late Comrade Samaila Ali Hamza (Action) which was recieved on behalf of the family by Khalid Haruna Aburke, amongst many other awards given to appreciate members of the Union.

The Vice-Chancellor thereafter commissioned a shuttle bus purchased by the leadership of NASU to ease inter campus connectivity for its members.
The event was a resounding success filled with camaraderie, celebration and appreciation.
