The Vice-Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), Professor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, Jaruman Keffi, has received an Award of Excellence from the Royal Women Foundation of Nasarawa State in recognition of her outstanding leadership and trailblazing achievements.

Also honoured at the event was a member of the University’s Governing Council and former member of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Hon. (Chief) Mrs. Mary E. Enwongulu, who was similarly presented with an Award of Excellence for her remarkable career in public service.

Professor Liman’s award was conferred in recognition of her exceptional leadership as the first female Vice-Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, a feat widely acknowledged as a milestone in the history of the institution.

Hon. Enwongulu, on the other hand, was recognised for her pioneering role as the first female member of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, as well as her distinguished service as a two-time Commissioner in the Nasarawa State Executive Council.

The award ceremony took place on Saturday, 20th December, 2025, at the New Keffi Hotel, Keffi. The occasion attracted an array of eminent personalities from across the state and beyond. In attendance were the Honourable Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Hajia Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, fsi, who was also an award recipient; the First Lady of Nasarawa State, Her Excellency, Hajia Silifa Abdullahi A. Sule; and former First Ladies of the State, Her Excellency, Barr. Khadija Abdullahi Adamu and Her Excellency, Hajia Salamatu Tanko Almakura.

Other distinguished personalities recognised at the event included the Honourable Chief Judge of Nasarawa State, Her Lordship Justice Aisha Mohammed Usman; the Special Adviser to the Governor (OSSG) and former Rector of Isa Mustapha Agwai I Polytechnic, Lafia, Dr. Justina Anjiode Kotso; the former Secretary to the Government of Nasarawa State, Hajia Zainab T. Ahmed; and Hon. (Chief) Dr. Aishatu Isah Idoma, among others.

A major highlight of the event was the presentation of empowerment packages to women drawn from across the state, underscoring the Royal Women Foundation’s commitment to women empowerment and socio-economic development in Nasarawa State.
