NSUK and ASTAL are Set to Collaborate on Areas of Mutual Interest

The Nasarawa State University, Keffi, and the Advanced Space Technology Applications Laboratory (ASTAL) have opened a new vista and agreed to foster a healthy corporate relationship that will enable the parties to utilize their mutually varied experiences, knowledge, contacts, and expertise to implement and actualize the objectives of their collaboration.

This was made possible when the two institutions signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on Thursday at the Corporate Headquarters of ASTAL located in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

The Vice-Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Professor Suleiman Bala Mohammed, represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Administration, Professor Haruna Kuje Ayuba at the signing ceremony said the MOA intends to cover areas of the Faculty Exchange Program through adjunct and visiting. Non-teaching personnel will also participate in the exchange program.

Other areas are Research and Development projects including data collection, analyses, and archiving; as well as commercialization, educational visits, field experimentation excursions, and other related activities.

After the signing ceremony, the Director/CEO of Advanced Space Technology Applications Laboratory, (ASTAL) Dr. Kenneth Uchua explained that ASTAL is a Research Laboratory established under the National Space Research and Development Agency NASRDA and a sub-parastatal of the Federal Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation, with the mandate of applying Satellite Remote Sensing SRS and Geographic Information System GIS technologies, as well as promoting Space Research and Education in the Niger Delta Region.

Present as a signatory to the Memorandum of Agreement is the Registrar of the University, Mallam Bala Isyaka Ahmed II.
