The Vice-Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Professor Suleiman Bala Mohammed has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for his boldness to reform the electoral process of the country.
Professor Mohammed gave the commendation when he delivered an opening remark at a National Workshop on Election Infrastructure, Vulnerability, Threat and Risk Landscape organized by the Centre for Cyberspace Studies Nasarawa State University, Keffi, at the NAF Event Centre, Abuja on Monday 28th November 2022.
According to Professor Suleiman, President Buhari’s intention to entrench a legacy of credible, free fair and inclusive and transparent election in the 2023 Nigerian election is the highest demonstration of patriotism and statesmanship, which must not be taken for granted.
The Vice-Chancellor noted that the National Workshop on Election Infrastructure is a timely intervention and well-thought-out effort to make scholarly inputs into the national dialogue on election matters.
Professor Suleiman stressed that Nigerians and the International community expect a wholesome implementation of the 2022 Electoral Act to produce a credible, free, fair inclusive and transparent election in 2023.
One of the prominent innovations of the Electoral Act according to Professor Suleiman is the deployment and use of digital election infrastructure to run and deliver a radiant election without recourse to any form of manipulation and risk.
On the theme of the workshop, Professor Suleiman charged the organizers to equip participating stakeholders with the knowledge of the vulnerability, threat and risk components capable of undermining the benefits of digital provisions of the Electoral Act 2022.
Highlights of the ceremony were the presentation of keynote addresses by Professor Tonnie Iredia OON, and His Royal Majesty Dr. David Wodi Tukura, the Aguma of Bassa Turunku Chiefdom. Plaques of honor were also given to dignitaries who graced the occasion by Professor Suleiman Bala Mohammed.
