Linkages and International Co-operation

At the Directorate of Linkages we work towards capacity building for both the academic staff members and the students of Nasarawa State University through international partnerships. We work to facilitate academic research partnership between the units, the departments, the faculties and the research centres of Nasarawa State University with relevant bodies, including local and foreign universities, corporate bodies and donor organizations for mutual academic benefit. We work to facilitate students’ exchange programs, staff visiting fellowships and sabbaticals. In our quest to internationalize our academic programs, we work with our partners in the areas of designing and developing curricula for our various degree programs. Ultimately, we are making learning and teaching experiences to our students and academic staff at Nasarawa State University, more adventurous and enjoyable.

The Directorate of Linkages function in a number of ways:

1. We coordinate all internal and external linkages
2. We follow up our partnership programs with other institutions and keep the records of their outcomes
3. Forge mutually rewarding relationships with knowledge services providers from Europe, Asia and USA. These include specialized academic franchises and professional certification programmes.
4. We forge strategic alliances with a number of Embassies to support University Advancement programme.
5. We facilitate strategic alliances with financial services partners to promote mutually beneficial relationships.
6. We promote the University brand by mandating the use of logos in publications, documents and communication.
7. We conduct capacity building workshops
8. We organize Summer programs and academic retreats
9. We compile a directory of relevant grants for funding researches.

• Establishment of the First Centre for Medical Geology Research in the world in collaboration with Prof. Jose A. Centeno (JACMedgeo).
• First Institute for European Studies in Africa in collaboration with Institute of European Studies Jagiellonian University Poland.
• First Centre for Climate Change action in Africa in collaboration with (UN Environmental Programme) UNEP Regional Headquarters in Kenya.
• Annual lecture series on Excellence in Research and Scholarships.
• Enhanced the acquisition of the copyright to the book “Fundamentals of Criminal Psychology” by Prof. Brunon Holyst in English Language.
• Donation of French books.
• Establishment of a complete French Library for the University by Nigerians in Diaspora Organization in Europe France (NIDOE).
• The International Conference on the Biography of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) with the title “Biography of Prophet       Muhammad (SAW)” was held on the 13th of February, 2016.
• The hosting of “The first Annual Lecture Series On Excellence in Research and Scholarship” was held on the 15th of March, 2017 in partnership with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU, NSUK chapter).
