The Executive Governor of Nasarawa State and Visitor to Nasarawa State University, Keffi, His Excellency Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, on Friday, 8th May 2026, at the Gudi Campus met with the management of the University, security chiefs, and parents of the students of the Faculty of Engineering who were recently abducted in Gudi.

The students were abducted from an off-campus lodge, an unfortunate incident that has generated deep concern within the university community and the state at large.

Governor Sule sympathised with the affected families and the university community, assuring them that the Nasarawa State Government, in collaboration with security agencies, is taking all necessary steps to ensure the safe and unharmed rescue of the students.

As part of measures to strengthen security around the Gudi Campus, the Governor disclosed plans by the state government to construct additional hostel accommodation within the campus to relocate students living in vulnerable and risk-prone areas off campus.

The Governor further highlighted several deliberate security interventions already put in place around the campus. These include a security checkpoint stationed directly in front of the campus, an additional mobile police checkpoint located ahead of the campus, and a police station situated not far from the institution. He also noted the ongoing construction of a police secondary school within the area, all aimed at improving security and safeguarding lives and property around the Gudi axis.

Government officials present at the meeting included the Commissioner for Education, the Commissioner of Police, representatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), and other relevant stakeholders.

Discussions focused on strategies for the safe return of the abducted students and further measures to enhance security within and around the campus environment.

The Vice-Chancellor, her management team and Government officials also engaged with students to reassure them, allay their fears, and encourage them to remain calm, law-abiding, security conscious, and focused on their academic pursuits.

Students of the Gudi Campus were advised against engaging in any unwarranted actions capable of disrupting peace and order, as such actions would not contribute positively to the ongoing rescue efforts.

The university management and security agencies reiterated their commitment to maintaining law and order on campus while continuing efforts to secure the release of the abducted students.

The Nasarawa State Government remains resolute in its commitment to the protection of lives and property and will continue to work tirelessly until the students are safely reunited with their families.
