The Junior Chamber International Nigeria (JCIN), Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK) Chapter, on Friday, July 10, 2026, successfully hosted the third edition of Clean-Up NSUK alongside the Human Duties Day Celebration, reaffirming its commitment to environmental sustainability, responsible citizenship, and community development.

The event commenced with a comprehensive sanitation exercise across strategic locations within the university, as students, volunteers, alumni, and partners joined forces to clean the campus environment. The exercise focused on proper waste disposal, beautification of public spaces, and raising awareness about the importance of maintaining a clean and healthy learning environment.

To ensure the initiative has a lasting impact, JCIN NSUK distributed essential sanitation materials, including brooms, waste bins, waste bags, and packers to student hostels and key locations across the campus. The gesture is aimed at encouraging students to sustain good sanitation practices and embrace responsible waste management beyond the day’s activities.

The programme received strong support from the University Management, with the Vice-Chancellor, Deputy Vice-Chancellors, Dean of Student Affairs, Student Affairs Officer, and other principal officers in attendance. Also present were the Personal Assistant to the Governor on Human Capital, Hon. Yusuf Dauda; Dr. S. Y. Kpalo; Dr. Salamatu; Dr. Ochanya of the Centre for Gender Studies; the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) Chairman; the CVC North East; JCIN NSUK alumni, past presidents, security personnel, and representatives of partner organisations.

In their goodwill messages, members of the University Management commended JCIN NSUK for its consistency in implementing impactful community service projects that complement the University’s vision of providing a clean, safe, and conducive learning environment. Students were urged to take responsibility for their surroundings and sustain the culture of environmental cleanliness.

The Human Duties Day celebration highlighted the importance of balancing individual rights with civic responsibilities. Speakers emphasized that every citizen has a duty to protect public facilities, preserve the environment, promote peaceful coexistence, and contribute meaningfully to societal development.
Participants were encouraged to become ambassadors of positive change by demonstrating responsibility in their daily lives.

JCIN NSUK expressed profound appreciation to the University Management, the Centre for Gender Studies, the Student Affairs Division, CVC North East, alumni, partner organisations, volunteers, and students whose support contributed to the success of the programme.

As an organisation dedicated to developing young leaders and driving sustainable community impact, JCIN NSUK reaffirmed its resolve to continue championing initiatives that promote environmental protection, civic engagement, youth empowerment, and the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The successful hosting of Clean-Up NSUK 3.0 once again demonstrated the power of collective action in building a cleaner, greener, healthier, and more responsible university community.
