The Faculty of Administration, Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), has successfully hosted the second edition of its Seminar Lecture Series, with experts advocating a business-oriented approach to strengthening Nigeria’s political development and democratic governance.

The seminar, held on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, focused on the theme: “The Symbiotic Effects of Marketing on Political Development in Nigeria: A Business Approach to Politics, Democracy, and Good Governance.”

In her opening remarks, the Vice-Chancellor of NSUK, Professor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, represented by Professor Rashidah Funke Olanrewaju, described the lecture as a strategic roadmap for reshaping Nigeria’s political landscape through innovation and accountability.

Professor Olanrewaju emphasized that adopting a business mindset in governance could enhance transparency, inclusivity, and accountability in public service delivery. She further advocated the integration of Artificial Intelligence-driven tools to modernize political information systems and promote positive social transformation.

Delivering the keynote address, Professor Yusuf Ibrahim Ohida highlighted how the fundamental marketing mix Product, Price, Promotion, and Place can be effectively applied to governance and democratic leadership.

According to Professor Ohida, the “Product” in politics should represent good governance, anchored on:

  • Effective decision-making and justice,
  • Transparency and accountability,
  • Provision of quality social amenities.

He stressed that citizen satisfaction remains the true measure of governance success, driven by economic prosperity, political stability, and a strong educational system.

The seminar attracted prominent academics and administrators, including Professor A. D. Zubairu, who commended the University management for sustaining intellectual engagement within the institution, and Professor Yahaya Adadu, who praised the academic foundation established by former Vice-Chancellor, Professor Muhammad Akaro Mainoma.

Participants at the interactive session explored practical strategies for applying marketing frameworks to governance in ways that would deliver sustainable democratic dividends for Nigerians.

The high point of the event was the presentation of a certificate of recognition to Professor Yusuf Ibrahim Ohida in appreciation of his scholarly contribution to the academic community of NSUK.
