NSUK French Students Outshine Peers with Standing Ovation at “French-Up Your Career” Forum

The Department of French at Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), has once again proven its academic and creative dominance, securing a resounding standing ovation at the 4th edition of the prestigious “French-Up Your Career” forum.
The high-profile event, held on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at the University of Abuja Law Auditorium, gathered nearly 200 students from prominent regional institutions, including the host university, Veritas University, Kaduna State University, and NSUK.
Organized by the French Embassy in Nigeria in collaboration with the French Institute and the University French Teachers Association of Nigeria (UFTAN), the five-hour forum focused on how proficiency in the French language unlocks global career and academic opportunities.
The creative centerpiece of the forum required each of the four participating universities to deliver a 15-minute drama presentation entirely in French.
NSUK’s contingent delivered an exceptionally unique, fluid, and distinctly “Frenchy” performance that completely captivated the auditorium, earning them the only full standing ovation of the day.
Mme. Magaly Losange, the Linguistique Attachée at the French Embassy, led a chorus of dignitaries who highly praised the performance. Attendees and organizers alike described the display as “top-notch” and “more than outstanding,” noting that it directly mirrored the world-class training being provided by the faculty at Keffi.
Industry observers at the forum remarked that this stunning performance was no fluke. It serves as a direct continuation of the department’s elite reputation under the leadership of the Head of Department, Dr. Anjugu T., who accompanied the students alongside Mrs. Lois Abu O.
This victory follows closely on the heels of the 2026 International Francophonie Day celebrated on March 28, where NSUK held the singular honor of being the only university invited to represent Nigerian tertiary education in Abuja.
Reacting to the outing, the leadership of the Department of French extended its deepest appreciation to the university community and its external partners:
“We owe this consistent success to the unwavering support of our departmental colleagues, the Deanery, and a University Management team that is deeply intentional about creating growth opportunities for our students. We also thank the French Embassy, Institut Français du Nigeria, UFTAN, and the University of Abuja for continuously recognizing NSUK as a priority partner in global language education.”
