The NSUK Staff Cooperative & Thrift Society (NSC&TS) has taken a significant step toward improving staff welfare and enhancing workforce productivity with the commissioning and distribution of 14 motorcycles to its members.

The presentation ceremony, held on Monday, June 15, 2026, attracted key university officials, including the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research, Innovation and Linkages), K’tso Nghargbu, members of the Cooperative Society’s leadership, beneficiaries, and representatives of the wider university community.

Speaking during the event, Nghargbu described the initiative by the Cooperative Society’s leadership as a strategic intervention aimed at improving staff welfare, reducing transportation challenges, and boosting productivity among beneficiaries. He noted that the motorcycles would not only support official responsibilities but also serve as valuable assets for personal and family needs.

According to him, the motorcycles would enable beneficiaries to conveniently attend to domestic obligations, including transporting family members to markets, vocational centres, schools, and healthcare facilities, particularly during emergencies.

Representing the Vice-Chancellor and the University Management, Nghargbu congratulated the beneficiaries and prayed for their safety. He urged them to adopt responsible and defensive riding habits, stressing the importance of complying with speed limits and traffic regulations at all times.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor also commended the leadership of the Staff Cooperative Society for successfully implementing the initiative, expressing confidence that the motorcycles would provide lasting economic and logistical benefits to the recipients and their families.

Earlier in his remarks, the President of the NSUK Staff Cooperative Society, Comrade Yakubu Tanimu, explained that the motorcycles were procured under a flexible and affordable repayment arrangement spread over 18 months to make ownership accessible to members.

He congratulated the beneficiaries and encouraged them to maximize the opportunity by utilizing the motorcycles not only for transportation but also as tools for improving their livelihoods and strengthening their financial resilience.

The event culminated in the official presentation of keys to the beneficiaries, followed by a group photograph to commemorate the occasion and celebrate another milestone in the Cooperative Society’s commitment to staff welfare and empowerment.
