The Vice-Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), Professor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, has called on university-based associations to step up and emulate the community-driven development model showcased by the institution’s postgraduate students.

The Vice-Chancellor made the call on Wednesday, 10th June 2026, while officially commissioning a newly constructed convenience facility at the School of Postgraduate Studies premises. The infrastructure project was fully funded and executed by the Executive Committee of the Postgraduate Students Association (POSA), under the leadership of its Pioneer President, Dr. Abimiku Monday.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Professor Liman lauded the association for its proactive leadership, describing the project as highly commendable and timely.

She noted that the new facility would go a long way in easing the pressure on existing campus infrastructure and directly address the convenience needs of the growing postgraduate student population.

Looking ahead, the Vice-Chancellor challenged the POSA leadership to further cement its structural footprint on campus:

“I charge this Association to look toward the future and establish a permanent presence by constructing a befitting edifice to serve as your official POSA Secretariat. I also strongly urge all other student associations on this campus to borrow a leaf from what POSA has done here today and actively contribute to our environment.” — Professor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman

Earlier in his opening remarks, the Pioneer President of POSA, Dr. Abimiku Monday, explained that the executive committee conceived the project as a vital component of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to the School of Postgraduate Studies.

Dr. Abimiku emphasized that this convenience structure is only the beginning of the association’s planned interventions. He assured the university community that more projects are in the pipeline to facilitate structural development, bring succour to students, and create a highly conducive learning environment for researchers.

The high point of the event was the formal cutting of the ribbon and commissioning of the facility by the Vice-Chancellor. She was supported during the walkthrough by Principal Officers of the University, senior academics, and the executive management team of the School of Postgraduate Studies.
