NSUK Clarifies Circulating Reports on the Status of Federal Medical Centre, Keffi as University Teaching Hospital

The attention of the Management of Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), has been drawn to reports circulating across various media platforms (excluding the official University platforms) alleging that the Federal Government has formally approved and concluded the release of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Keffi, to serve as the University’s Teaching Hospital.

While Management appreciates the excitement and public interest generated by the ongoing efforts to strengthen the University’s College of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences, it has become necessary to set the records straight in the interest of our students, staff, stakeholders, and the general public.

The University wishes to clarify that although engagements with the Federal Government and other relevant authorities have been positive and encouraging, the modalities and administrative processes for the release and transition of the facility are still being finalized by the appropriate authorities. Consequently, any report suggesting that the process has been concluded or that the facility has been officially handed over to the University is inaccurate and premature.

The conversion or redesignation of a Federal Medical Centre as a University Teaching Hospital is governed by established statutory, administrative, and inter-governmental procedures, all of which have to be duly completed before any formal announcement can be made.

Under the visionary leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, the University remains steadfast in its commitment to building a world-class College of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences capable of producing highly skilled healthcare professionals.

Management is working assiduously with relevant stakeholders to ensure that the necessary clinical training facilities and institutional frameworks are put in place to support quality medical education, research, and healthcare service delivery.

Accordingly, members of the University community, prospective students, stakeholders, and the general public are urged to disregard unverified reports and rely solely on official communications from Nasarawa State University, Keffi, for authentic information regarding the Teaching Hospital and other institutional developments.

The University assures all stakeholders that an official statement will be issued as soon as the ongoing modalities and regulatory processes have been successfully concluded.

Ag. Information and Protocol Officer,
