VC Leads NSUK into Strategic Power and Energy Partnership with Meyana Bio-Energy

The Vice-Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), Professor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, has reaffirmed the University’s commitment to strengthening strategic partnerships that promote research, innovation, skills acquisition, and sustainable national development as the institution signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Meyana Bio-Energy Company.

The landmark agreement, signed on Monday, July 27, 2026, marks another significant milestone in the University’s drive to foster industry-academia collaboration aimed at advancing power and energy systems in Nigeria.

Speaking during the signing ceremony, Professor Liman described the partnership as a timely initiative that aligns with the University’s vision of producing graduates equipped with practical knowledge and innovative skills to address contemporary societal challenges.

The Vice-Chancellor commended the management of Meyana Bio-Energy Company for its confidence in NSUK and reaffirmed the University’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the success of the collaboration. She emphasised that the partnership would strengthen research, innovation, and capacity building while creating opportunities for students and staff to acquire practical knowledge in the power and energy sector.

Professor Liman further reiterated NSUK’s resolve to continue engaging critical stakeholders and industry partners in developing sustainable solutions for the nation’s energy needs. She also expressed appreciation to Meyana Boi-Energy Company for its continued support and valuable contributions to the growth and development of the University and society at large.

Earlier, the Chief Executive Officer of Meyana Bio-Energy Company, Dr. Mer Best, commended the NSUK Management for its commitment to the partnership and lauded Professor Liman for her visionary leadership and unwavering dedication to academic excellence.

Dr. Best stated that the Memorandum of Understanding would open new opportunities for grant funding, improve students’ access to modern equipment, attract additional investments, and facilitate innovative solutions to emerging national challenges. He also advocated stronger collaboration among government, academia, and industry players to build sustainable power and energy systems capable of driving national development.

The ceremony concluded with the formal signing of the Memorandum of Understanding by both parties, symbolising their shared commitment to advancing research, innovation, and capacity development in the power and energy sector. The event also featured a group photograph to commemorate the strategic partnership.
