




The Vice-Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Professor Suleiman Bala Mohammed on Wednesday 6th September 2023 played host to the leadership of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers led in person by the President and Chairman of the Council of the Institute, Mr Oluwole Adeosun.
In his welcome remark, the President of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers stated that the institute is a professional body chartered by Act 105 of the Federal Republic of Nigeria of 1992 and is the only professional body in Nigeria empowered to conduct qualifying examinations and provide professional qualifications for Securities Dealers, Financial Services & Investment Analysts, Portfolio and Fund Managers. The Institute also regulates the activities of its members.
The President of the C.I.S. used the opportunity of the courtesy visit to congratulate the Suleiman Bala Mohammed-led management for the great academic achievements over the years, especially in the areas of Capital Market Studies and the financial sector, and also for being one of the first Universities in Nigeria to introduce Capital Market Studies as a full-fledged degree course.
The Institute also appreciated the Director of the Institute for Capital Market Studies, and President Association of Capital Market Academics of Nigeria Professor Uche Uwaleke for being a great Ambassador of the Institute over the years.
During the courtesy visit, the Institute sought to collaborate with the University on advocacy, training collaboration through the CIS Academy, and Certification of programs.
According to Mr.Oluwole, the Institute has over 3000 professional members across various sectors including securities trading, asset management and corporate finance.
In his response, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Suleiman Bala thanked the Institute for the visit and expressed the readiness of the University to execute a memorandum of understanding to further give life to the request of the Institute.
The high point of the visit was the presentation of souvenirs to the delegation from the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers by the Vice-Chancellor.
