There is positivity in Negativity. These were the solemn declaration of the Dean Faculty of Agriculture, Nasarawa State University, keffi, Professor James Jaiyeoba when he led other Heads of Department of the faculty during the official presentation of protective face masks produced by the Department of Home Science Management, Faculty of Agric to the Vice Chancellor Nasarawa State University, Professor Suleiman Bala Mohammed.

The Dean informed the Vice Chancellor that the negativity of the current COVID19 pandemic has made the faculty to channel it’s thinking into positivity which has manifested in the production of protective face masks that the faculty is donating to the university as part of it’s contribution towards mitigating the effects of the pandemic and also a part of the faculty’s corporate social responsibility.

He further stated that the faculty has the capacity to produce up to ten thousand pieces of face masks in a week and it is assiduously working towards making a donation to the state government very soon.

In her remarks the Head, Department of Home Science Management Dr. C Shailong stated that the face masks donated to the university are of different types, it includes the Ankara style and the customized masks, and the beauty of it is that it can be washed and used again unlike the disposable face masks.

Receiving the donation on behalf of the Management of the University, the Vice Chancellor said the occasion was very historic, he expressed his delight and gratefulness for the kind gesture which he said is unmatched. he paid glowing tributes on the leadership of the faculty which he said is doing very well, he further informed them that the Faculty and Department will be given the responsibility to produce the non disposable face masks which will be used in the university.

He also used the opportunity to inform the management of the Faculty that preparations have reached an advanced stage with a private developer for the provision of hostel accommodation for students of the Faculty of Agriculture, Shabu Campus, Lafia.
